1. The mold EDM processing method must meet three conditions:

①It is necessary to maintain a certain gap between the tool electrode and the workpiece surface to be machined, so there must be an automatic feeding and adjusting device for the tool electrode in EDM;

②The spark discharge must be an instantaneous pulse discharge, for this reason, a pulse power supply must be used for EDM;

③Spark discharge must be carried out in a liquid medium with certain insulating properties.

2. Factors that affect the erosion rate of EDM: electrical standards, polarity effects, thermal constants of metal materials, working fluids, and chip removal conditions.

3. Factors affecting the precision of EDM processing: various errors of the machine tool itself, manufacturing precision of tool electrodes, positioning and installation errors of workpieces and electrodes, size and consistency of discharge gaps, loss of workpiece electrodes and processing stability.

4. Electrode material requirements for EDM: small loss, stable processing, high productivity, good machining performance, and low price. Commonly used materials: copper, graphite, cast iron, steel, brass, tungsten alloy, silver tungsten alloy. Structural form: ① Integral electrode ② Mosaic electrode ③ Combination electrode.

5. The method of EDM machining cavity mold: ①Single electrode translation method ②Multiple electrode replacement method ③Decomposition electrode method.
